Who are the Nechako
Sturgeon?

STURGEON GEOGRAPHY

Sturgeons live in rivers, lakes and oceans all around the world. Sturgeon prefer to live within the cooler Northern Hemisphere, in Canada , the United States and Russia.

Within Canada , white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) reside west of the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia.

White Sturgeon can utilize marine (ocean/salt water) or fresh water environments (lakes and rivers). The life cycle of white sturgeon can include forays into the ocean or can be based entirely in fresh water, such as the case with white sturgeon in the Nechako and upper Fraser rivers.
